Foresters is a very well established club and its members both young and old have a lot to be proud of - this page is where we get to tell the world of our success.

Our very own Steve Gill took home the Bronze

at the 2014 Invictus Games in the Individual

The club is hugely proud of our Paralympian Fred Stevens who shot his compound bow in the 2008 Beijing Paralympics. He retired from professional archery in 2011 ranking 3rd in the world in the men’s open compound.

2020

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Congratulations to LAOFAC on winning Division 18 in the Compound Portsmouth Winter Postal League whose team comprised of Neill Brown, Jon Knowles and Woz Levins.

  • We had many winners in this years L&R300 Postal League. Congratulations to Kim Blakebrough for taking 2nd in the Ladies Recurve and to Christina Kent for getting 3rd. Also to Gill Brown for coming 2nd in the Ladies Barebow and to Neill Brown for coming 3rd in the Gents Compound. Last but not least we came 3rd in the Team Event that was made up of Neill Brown, Jon Knowles and Chris Butler. Well done to all our members who took part this year.

  • Warren Levins secured the Gold at the LRCAA Indoor Novice Championships in the Gents Compound.

  • Stuart Lowe came 2nd in the Senior Gents Recurve at the Sherwood Open Clout on 1st March. Jon Knowles just missed out on 3rd place by 4 points. Kim Blakebrough came 1st at the event in the Senior Ladies Recurve category.

  • Gill Brown won the LRCAA Indoor Championships this year with her Barebow while Kim Blakebrough took home Silver in the Recurve.

  • Jill Brown took home 1st Place in the Ladies Compound for the Countersthorpe Triple. Kim Blakebrough came 2nd in the Senior Ladies Recurve for the 2nd year running, narrowly missing out on 1st place by 3 points. Neill Brown also took 2nd in the Gents Compound with wife Gill Brown bringing home the Bronze for Ladies Barebow.

  • Gill Brown took 1st at The Foresters WA18 in the Ladies Barebow category while we also came 1st for the 2nd year running in the Mixed Team Compound category thanks to Neill Brown, Faye Balcombe and Jill Brown. 

2019

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • 4 more medals came home with our archers from the Foxes Worcester this year. Husband and Wife Team Neill and Gill Brown took home 2nd in the Ladies Barebow and Gents Compound while Kim Blakebrough and our other Jill Brown took home 3rd in the Ladies Recurve and Ladies Compound.

  • Kim Blakebrough went over to East Yorkshire this year to compete in the Archers of Bridlington and Burton Agnes (A.B.B.A) Portsmouth. She came away with the Silver only to realise after the tournament that she had incorrectly added up her scoresheet. This made her 5 points down and she lost out on the Gold by 4 points. Check the adding next time Kim.

  • The Foxes Portsmouth this year saw Kim Blakebrough take home 1st Place in the Ladies Recurve with Jill Brown taking home a 2nd in the Ladies Coumpound.

  • Kim Blakebrough won the EMAS 2019 Clout Championship for Ladies Senior Recurve.

  • Jon Knowles and Kim Blakebrough took the 1st and 2nd places at the Meriden Windsor Rosebowl scooping 1st in the ladies recurve and 2nd in the gents compound.

  • Rob Sansome came 2nd in the Gents Barebow category at the Bowmen of Glen WA1440.

  • The LRCAA Outdoor County Championships saw LAOFAC win in every category this year. Gold for Gill Brown and Rob Sansome in the Ladies Longbow and Gents Barebow. Faye Balcombe took home Silver in the Ladies Compound while Kim Blakebrough took Bronze for Ladies Recurve. We also had team winners in the Mixed Compound Team comprising of Neill Brown, Jon Knowles and Faye Balcombe and another in the Club Veterans Team with Rob Sansome and husband and wife Neill and Gill Brown.

  • Gill Brown and Stuart Lowe took 2nd and 3rd at this years DCAA and Open Clout in the Ladies Barebow and Gents Recurve.

  • Mercia's Double Metric Clout saw Kim Blakebrough take 1st in the Ladies Recurve and Stuart Lowe 2nd in the Gents.

  • Rob Sansome took himself all the way to Jersey this year to compete in The Jersey Triple. He won Silver on his first day in WA 1440 and took gold on the second day in the 720 and H2H.

  • Gill Brown won Gold at the Bowmen of Glen WA1440 in the Ladies Barebow while Steven Gill came 3rd in the Gents Compound.

  • Husband and Wife team took home a 1st and a 3rd at the Kirby Muxloe WA1440 with 1st in the Ladies Barebow and 3rd in the Gents Compound.

  • Conor Haldane landed his first Gold away from his club at the Bowmen of Rutland WA18 in the Gents Barebow while Kim Blakebrough grabbed a 2nd in the Ladies Recurve.

  • At the Sherwood Double Metric Clout this year Gill Brown came 1st in the Ladies Barebow while Stuart Lowe took home 2nd in the Gents Recurve.

  • Conor Haldane took Gold at the LRCAA Indoor Championships this year with his Barebow while Jill Brown took home Silver in the the Ladies Compound, and Kim Blakebrough the Bronze in Ladies Recurve.

  • Gill Brown took home 1st Place in the Ladies Longbow for the Countersthorpe Triple. Kim Blakebrough, Jill Brown and Alan Zenthon came 2nd in the Ladies Recurve, Ladies Compound and Gents Barebow while Neill Brown also took home the Bronze in the Gents Compound.

  • Conor Haldane won Gold at The Foresters WA18 in the Gents Barebow category while Mehdi Dewan won it for the Boys U16. Jill Brown came 2nd in the Ladies Compound and our other Gill Brown won 3rd in the Ladies Longbow. We also came 1st in the Mixed Team Compound category thanks to Neill Brown, David Lee and Jill Brown. 

2018

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Gill Brown won the BLBS National Longbow Championship on 2nd June 2018. She scored 1 point with her first dozen arrows, but on the remaining 5 dozen scored 173 points, which shows the value of never giving up and persisting right to the end.

2017

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Stuart Lowe retained the title of National Champion for flight archery in the target compound not exceeding 60lbs category with a new County and Regional record of 670.99m. He also achieved 3rd place in the target recurve not exceeding 35lbs category.  Stuart further extended the County and Regional record for flight archery in the target compound not exceeding 60lbs category to 693.55m (758 yds 1 ft 5 in) at the Northern Counties flight shoot.

03/11/2019 - Stuart Lowe took the Visitors 2nd for the Gents Recurve Class in the NCAS County Clout Championships hosted by Kettering Archery Club.

01/09/2019 - Gill Brown won the Bronze in the Ladies Longbow at the Thoresby Trophy match held at Bowmen of Glen.

19/08/2019 - Stuart Lowe cam 3rd in the Gents Recurve at the National Flight Championships in the under 35lbs category while Gill Brown took the Silver in the Ladies Recurve and Ladies Longbow under 35lbs class.

12/08/2019 - Stuart Lowe came 3rd in the Gents Recurve at the Northern Counties Flight Championship for the under 35lbs category and came 1st in the Gents Flatbow in the under 35lbs class.

02/06/2019 - Kim Blakebrough came home with a team win in the EMAS Inter Counties Double 720 held at Sherwood Archery Club.

24/03/2019 - Stuart Lowe came 2nd in the EMAS Inter Counties Clout Championships in the Gents Recurve category and also helped to secure a 2nd Place team win for Leicestershire and Rutland.
